Is it possible for the main applicant to apply for a DTV visa in Australia while dependants apply in Germany?

Has anyone applied for the DTV (Husband/ Main Applicant) and Dependants (Wife + Children) in different countries?

I’m wondering if we would risk having our application denied?

We were planning to apply from Australia and then leave in July 2025 as a family but my father (in Germany) just had major heart problems and myself & the kids really need to fly to Germany immediately to be with him.

Do you think it’ll be ok for my husband to still lodge his application in Australia and for myself & the kids to lodge ours (sponsored by husband) in Germany?

We would then still meet up in Bangkok in July if all our visas get approved.

Can anyone see any problems with this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for a Thailand DTV visa while the main applicant is in Australia and the dependants are in Germany due to a family emergency. Concerns about potential complications and chances of denial are addressed, with suggestions to provide a covering letter explaining the situation and verifying requirements with the German Embassy.

The covering letter sounds like a good idea. I would also check what, if anything, the German Embassy requires ( in terms of any extra documents) as it could be very different to Australia Hopefully they just need your husbands DTV information Good luck

It's been done. You could include a brief cover letter stating family emergency that required unplanned travel to a different country before the dependants/spouse were able to apply.
