How can my partner and son apply for a DTV visa if we are not married?

Hi everyone 👋🏼
I’m hoping someone can help because I’m getting really confused with the DTV visa rules 😅

I have an online business and would be applying as the main applicant. My partner doesn’t have an online business himself, but together we do have the financial funds required.

Our situation is:

• Me (main applicant)

• My partner (not married)

• Our 6 year old son

I understand my son can be added as a dependent, but I’m struggling to understand what happens with my partner because we’re not married.

Has anyone in a similar situation successfully applied through the UK/London embassy recently?

There’s so much conflicting information online so I’d really appreciate any advice or real experiences 🙏🏼

This is a good reason to get married 😜 you’ll do the dtv and sponsor him and your child. Much less paperwork and less complicated (like what if he gets denied his visa… then what will u do)

You and your (non spouse) partner will have to apply separately. Your child will apply as the dependent.

Make sure there is plenty of money in a normal bank account for enough time and the account ownership is clear.

Who will be your spouse’s employer or sponsor? This will be the tricky part.

I am curious.  Where are you seeing conflicting information? From everything I have seen, it has been very clear that you need to be legally married to have him apply as your dependent.  Once you receive your DTV, you submit your son’s application. As part of his application, you submit a copy of your DTV and birth certificate proving the legal connection, along with copies of his passport, bank statement and application fee.

Your partner and you must apply separately, as you are not married. You can do that at the same time. Once one of the visas is approved you can then add your child to it as a dependant.
