TLDR : Answer Summary
An Indian national planning to visit Thailand for 18 to 20 days from December 15 to January 2 or 3 will face challenges with the Visa on Arrival (VoA) option. The VoA permits a maximum stay of 15 days. Comments suggest it is advisable to obtain a visa in advance as the VoA can lead to long waiting times and may require proof of onward travel, funds, and accommodation. Additionally, it's mentioned that Indians cannot extend their VoA except in exceptional circumstances. Some suggestions include getting a tourist visa prior to departure, although this may require documentation such as income tax returns.

, these are the requirements for a 6 month METV from Kuala Lumpur

OR

you could get a single entry tourist visa from one of the thai consulates there and that would stamp you in for 60 days.

anyone know about extension for malaysia, Asean passport?

@Rit***
, Don't use that border crossing :O OR apply for a 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa from the thai consulates in Penang, Kuala Lumpur or Kota Bharu.

@Tod ********
yeah but whats a better option for me, the worst boder was sakeo/cam had to show 10k with no atms on cam side.

okay, then you did NOT enter on a tourist visa you entered on a 30 day visa exempt entry stamp. AND Malay passport holders are NOT limited to TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year like most people. You can come across and get 30 day visa exempt entries as much as you want to.

@Tod ********
nope just drove in by car my/th border do a visa run to trat/cam every month.

@Ritish *************
you have a 60 day entry from a TOURIST visa that you bought at a thai consulate before you came here?

Tod *********
what kind of stamp are you in thailand on now?
Tod *********
IF you can't meet the requirements to get a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate in India before you come here you're only option is a 15 day visa on arrival for 2000baht when you stamp into the country. You may be required to show proof of onward travel (within 15 days), proof of funds and proof of a hotel booking.

You could get a 7 day application for extension denied stamp at the immigration office that gives you one more week to leave thailand for 1900baht.

@Tod ********
that may be good news for the OP.

@James *******
no matter what they say, they will give people who buy visa on arrivals the 7 day "get out of thailand" stamp for 1900baht. They just might ask for proof
James ********
Tod..

Look at the reasons for a 7 day extension. Not normally granted unless sickness...etc
Shahzeb *******
There are some nationality can extend for 3o days but for some nationality can get extention for only 7 days it includes Pakistan, India and other countries.

i think indian national can extent their visa at immigration office for 7 more days for 1900 baht. In case Gururaj Naik you like stay more then you have this option open and total you will have 22 days in Thailand.

Read ...Gururaj Naik Visitors who enter the Kingdom with Visa on Arrival generally cannot file an application for extension of stay except in special cases such as illness which prevents them from traveling, etc. They can submit an application at the Office of Immigration Bureau, Immigration Division 1, Soi Suan Plu, South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120. Actually tell you what, you are better off with a visa before travelling because visa on arrival you may have to stand in the airport queue for hours. I travelled with an Indian friend of mine & he said never he will opt for visa on arrival
