How many times a calendar year can I get a visa exemption? I want to stay 6 months in Thailand, can I enter on a visa exemption of 30 days, extent it for 30 days, leave for 2-3 days, comeback with tourist visa single entry of 60 days, extent it for 30 days, leave 2-3 days and comeback on a visa exemption for 30 days? If this is possible, I would get a visa exemption in 2024 plus the exemption 2024 and the other one in 2025.

Do you think this scenario could work?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether one can stay in Thailand for up to six months using a combination of visa exemptions and tourist visas. Various users share their experiences and opinions on possible strategies. Some suggest that while it's technically doable due to the lack of a strict limit on visa exemptions, frequent entries may raise suspicion at immigration. Others recommend obtaining a multiple-entry tourist visa to simplify the process and comply better with regulations.

When going to Thailand for 31 - 60 ( 90 )days, the 60 days touristvisa is the best option.

It is cheaper than visa excempt + 30 days extension.

No need of a onward ticket ( 90 days 1 onward ), if returnticket within 60 days.

It is easier to apply from the comfort of your home.

Not wasting holiday time to find, go to and waiting at a immigration office ( 90 you would need that ).

Then no need to leave Thailand in up to 90 days.

And you will have less bordercrossings.

Get a proper Tourist visa instead of trying to circumvent the system.

If you ask 100 people, you will have 100 different opinions. See the requirements of Thailand at official links of immigration and embassies and you will choose the best option for you

Yes, it would work. There is no specific limit at all for visa exemptions and extensions. Only restrictions is two land border entries per year

Not doing it like that. in 2022 I entered 8 times visa exempt. In 2019 14 times visa exempt. I was working in Singapore and the Netherlands. I never had an extension. I would leave after 20 -25 days, and come back after about a week. If you going to an extension and leave for 2 days that is abusing

Why are you making it so difficult and trying to game the system? The odds are fairly high of you getting pulled aside at the airport and asked what you're doing after you've already entered twice. Leaving for a few days and returning isn't fooling anyone, they know you left to get a new stamp.

Purchase a multiple entry tourist visa from the Thai embassy in your home country before you travel. That should make everything easier.
