Hi Thai Visa Advice. Just got new passport. I have a 12 months Non O M/Enrty visa (about to expire) from Australia who do not issue embassy letters to transfer from old to new. SO my Q'is? In old passport, stamp states that my current visa is still valid. Can I travel to Laos to get my new Non O visa just carrying both passports? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The visa sticker from your old passport cannot be transferred to your new passport. You can travel to Laos by carrying both passports; present both when exiting Thailand and upon re-entry, demonstrating the valid Non-O visa in the old passport until it expires.

VISAS are stickers and can't be transferred to a new passport.

You show BOTH passports when you exit the country, they will note you hold a valid Non-O visa in passport xxx in the new passport and stamp you OUT on the new one and then when you stamp back in you show BOTH passports again to get stamped in on the new passport.

You do this (showing BOTH passports) when you exit/re-enter until the VISA in the old passport runs out.

Thank You. Good advice.I will be issued with a new 12 months Non O (Marriage Visa) while there. So I imagine that will go in my new passport finally making old passport obsolete. Yes?

a Visa sticker from a Thai Consulate can not be transferred to another passport. You have to use both passports until the Visa lost his validity.

Yes, as i mentioned but that was not the answer. i hope YES you need to use both passports if you like to cross the border to Laos as you planned.

That's not what I asked re Consulate. I am going to cross into Laos with both passports as I cannot (because Visa was issued outside Thailand) have the visa transferred to new passport. So can I cross the border using both passports? Plus only one page left in old passport>>>
