Out of curiosity, if I cross over to Laos for a day trip (leave, re-enter on the same day) does my 90 day reporting date reset?
I'm on a 1 year non-O, with multiple re-entry permit.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you cross over to Laos for a day trip and re-enter Thailand on the same day, your 90-day reporting date does reset. This is confirmed by multiple comments from users who state that upon re-entry, the counting for your next 90-day report starts anew. It's important to ensure that you have a re-entry permit to keep your visa valid.

Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Serviceto get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).

As it’s not really considered a loop hole in eyes of the Thai Government.
Intention behind 90 days reporting is to have that “touch point” with immigration authorities every 90 days.
Whether that be in person reporting at local immigration office or exiting/re-entering Thailand.
Both require interactions with an immigration officer.
One advantage of exiting/reentering is that it doesn’t require the TM30 form however but presumably they would collect your residence via new TDAC form upon arrival.
Online 90 day reporting doesn’t require in person immigration interaction - I think it can be done after your first in person reporting.
