Good morning everyone!

My wife has the visa and entry stamps on her old passport, which has been invalidated by the US Embassy. Also, she has a new passport with is still untouched.

We’re planning a border run soon. Can she leave using the old passport and re-enter using the new one, but with the visa on the old one (and get 90 days)? Or does she need to do something at the immigration before leaving the country?

Thanks 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The wife can leave Thailand using her new passport while carrying the old passport that has the valid visa. At immigration, she will be stamped out on the new passport. Upon re-entry, she must present both passports to obtain a 90-day entry stamp from the non-B visa in her old passport, as the immigration office does not transfer visas or entry stamps between passports.

This topic actually comes up a LOT

At immigrations they don't transfer visas or entry stamps, only extensions of stays..

So in this case the wife of the O/P would carry BOTH passports when they exit thailand, because even though they have a new passport the visa for thailand in the old one is still valid.

They'll get stamped out on the new passport and then when they re-entry the country they show both passports again and they'll get a 90 day entry stamp from the Non-B in the old passport along with a notation they had a visa in a previous passport

You only go to the immigration office to get extension stamps transferred when you get a new passport (UNLESS you have an ELITE visa which is totally different)
