I have 8 days overstay and am about to go to Aranya Prathet and do an in out border run. It will be my first on this passport. I've previously had 2 se tourist visas (both extended)
Is there any potential issues with this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to conduct a border run at Aranya Prathet with an 8-day overstay. They are concerned about potential issues, especially regarding immigration stamps and overstay penalties. Some commenters note the standard procedure involves receiving an overstay stamp regardless of whether the overstay is cleared at immigration or at the border when exiting. Others provide practical advice on handling the overstay and warn about scrutiny from border officials, suggesting alternatives such as the Ban Laem border.

, after you have an extension already when you clear an overstay you can only get the "application for extension denied" 7 days to get outta thailand stamp for 1900baht.
, I'm not saying don't comment or don't try to help.
What I am saying is: as a general rule if you overstay when you clear it at an immigration office or when you stamp out of the country you get an overstay stamp in your passport.
you sure they didnt' get this stamp in their passport? It's quite small. Here's one from Narathiwat for a 2 day overstay with a 1000baht fine from 2010.
After they paid their overstay did they get an extension or were they leaving the country that day?
umm whether you clear an overstay at the immigration office and then leave the country OR clear it when you stamp out, you ALWAYS get the overstay stamp in your passport. :/
That is a sucky border to to a border-bounce at. Be prepared to be grilled by the officers on the thai side when you stamp out and when you stamped back in if you're asked be prepared to show 10K baht, a hotel booking and proof you're leaving the country in 30 days.
If all you're getting is a 30 day visa exempt stamp, you are way better off using the Ban Laem border with Cambodia and NOT Aranyaprathet - Poi Pet.
