TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the possibility of changing from a marriage visa to a Thailand Elite (TE) visa outside Bangkok. Respondents mention that the only location for TE visa issuance in Thailand is Chang Wattana Immigration in Bangkok; hence, while one can apply from other places, approval and stamping typically require a trip to Bangkok. Comments note the processing time for TE visa approval can take 1-3 months, and highlight the advantages of TE visas, including benefits and ease of management without frequent immigration visits.
yes unless you leave the country and come back you get stamped in for another year without the need for the extension. The extension is really easy anyway but you need to inform TE 2 weeks before you do your extension which you can do at your local immigration office without the need to go to Bangkok. You can make the visa last 6 years.
my wife and i both changed from retirement to TE because got sick and tired of all their chopping and changing at immigration makes like easy for us now and don’t have to see these people in immigration or if necessary TE will do for us
Not sure if you've already been approved or not, but if not it takes 1-3 months to be approved so you should submit an application asap. You don't have to pay anything until after you're approved.
The only place that TE visa is issued within Thailand is Chang Wattana Immigration in Bangkok. Once approved you they make you an appointment and the process takes about 2 hours.
