TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the possibility of changing from a marriage visa to a Thailand Elite (TE) visa outside Bangkok. Respondents mention that the only location for TE visa issuance in Thailand is Chang Wattana Immigration in Bangkok; hence, while one can apply from other places, approval and stamping typically require a trip to Bangkok. Comments note the processing time for TE visa approval can take 1-3 months, and highlight the advantages of TE visas, including benefits and ease of management without frequent immigration visits.

yes unless you leave the country and come back you get stamped in for another year without the need for the extension. The extension is really easy anyway but you need to inform TE 2 weeks before you do your extension which you can do at your local immigration office without the need to go to Bangkok. You can make the visa last 6 years.

you don't need to study anything on Elite, and no tests, you just pay the money and get a no hassle visa for the period.

no not for those ones. It's just the once off. The 20k/year is another one that includes more perks like golf, etc

Not sure if you've already been approved or not, but if not it takes 1-3 months to be approved so you should submit an application asap. You don't have to pay anything until after you're approved.

once in Bangkok you meet a TE representative and they do everything for you. You just sit and wait for them and off you go. All very easy.

The only place that TE visa is issued within Thailand is Chang Wattana Immigration in Bangkok. Once approved you they make you an appointment and the process takes about 2 hours.

I just saw someone in here last couple of weeks got their elite inside Thailand. He lived in Chiang Mai but had to go to Bangkok to get the stamp.
