Question: currently on Amnesty. I still have the 60 day to visit family option available to me (and possibly the 30-day Embassy letter too). Is it possible to get a Non-O visa based on marriage with say 5-6 months of 40K Baht International transfers at Chiang Mai Immigration or is it 12 months or nothing? I had heard that C.M. Immigration was encouraging people to come by and they would see if they could help on a case by case basis. Any truth to that before I head over there? Thank you.

For the op's info, CM immigration has been pretty empty so may be quick to get your answers from them. Also, there are two assistants just before going in that checks all the paper work and may be able to assist you.

Any way you slice it you're gonna hafta slog on over to the immigration officce with your bank book and proof of transfers to see what you can do AND if you're on amnesty now they can't do a thing for you because Chiang Mai requires you have 21 days or more left on your current stamp and you don't (you have 12 days until amnesty runs out ). I'd say go apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension (which will let you get 2 more months of transfers in).

BUT definitely the immigration office is the place you and your thai wife need to be talking to.. They would be who makes the decision

there's that b/s cabinet meeting tomorrow where they said they "will discuss" the situation. BUT that's not the first time we heard them say that and then nothing happened from it.

With that being said

And did you go by the immigration office and see if they'll take 5 months of incoming transfers of 40K baht a month to issue you a 90 day Non-O visa ?
