Hi All,

I am transferring from a BOI company to a new employer that will employ me through a Marriage Visa. Is there a way to prove the new employer's salary to meet the financial requirements or can this only happen if the salary was already paid into my bank for 3+ months before application?

It feels like a chicken/egg situation as it looks like you need the visa to get the work permit, but need the salary before you can get the visa. Or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the complexities of obtaining a Marriage Visa in Thailand while transitioning from a BOI company to a new employer. The key issue is whether the new employer's salary can be used to meet financial requirements if the salary has not been deposited into the bank account for the requisite duration before applying for the visa. Comments emphasize the importance of having proof of monthly income or a fixed deposit as a prerequisite for the visa application, highlighting that changing employers complicates the ability to provide such proof.

thanks for the information. It's a tricky situation to say the least. Theoretically, I could remain with my current employer, change the extension of the visa to marriage based on the salary then leave the employer after the visa has been approved?

you could indeed.

You aren't gonna be doing anything as far as getting a marriage VISA :O all you'd be doing is changing the reason for your extension to one based on employment to one based on marriage

You'd cancel your extension with the current employer; if you're in Bangkok you'd do that at the Cham Churi Square One Stop Service Center Location (that handles BOI people),

Then you'd go to Chaengwattana and apply for brand new extension of stay based on marriage by meeting the proof of funds, (which is either 400K baht banked in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply OR proof you have 40K baht a month in income for the previous 12 months before you apply for the extension. :/

There's no way to do meet the proof of funds using monthly income method on a marriage Extension IF you are changing employers at the same time.

you needed to change to a marriage visa extension BEFORE you left your current job so you could use that salary to qualify for the 40K baht a month in income from legally working here for the required time before you apply for the marriage extension.
