If I finish a 1-year cooking course under a DTV visa, can I change to a Muay Thai course afterward?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, once you complete your 1-year cooking course under a DTV visa, you are not restricted to any specific class and are free to enroll in a Muay Thai course or any other course of your choice. Some users mentioned concerns about being asked for proof of course enrollment upon re-entry, but this seems to be anecdotal and not a documented requirement for maintaining the DTV visa.

You don’t even have to take a new class or change to a difference course. Your 1 year cooking class gives you a 5 year visa.

You’ve moved from “class checks” to “money checks” without any published case of a DTV actually being cancelled. Denial of entry is not visa revocation. Until there is a documented enforcement action, this is anecdote, not law.

they have been in rare occasions asking in re-entry under DTV proof of active course - its been rare but few have reported IO asked them for proof of classes - on the same token they dont check attendance with DTV

There has been no proof of that provided by anyone

mate. It's always been anonymous posts and when pressed for information they disappear. It simply doesn't happen because it's not an ongoing visa condition, it's an application condition only.

yeah I dont repeat anon posts I repeate information from videos I seen posted on tiktok with a face and name ive talked to 3 different people who were asked to provide proof of their savings upon re-enter with DTV 2 of them had it 1 didnt - her visa was revoked and denied entry.

For the class proof I know a Muay Thai Gym owner who has made a student portal for his students to log in online to provide said proof to IO if asked. He had to do this because his students were being asked to show proof of enrollment

That is why I said something about IO ask about class proof.

Just because you havent seen it MATE doesn't mean it hasnt happened untill it does

I go to that gym and no one was asked, they were all just fearful because of all the misinformation out there. Do you have any proof this person had their DTV revoked because they couldn't prove a application condition? Because I call absolute nonsense

no I said someone else i know had DTV revoked due to not having the money in savings please read better -

this person wasnt in any gym not what their DTV was for

try reading better before you come showing your ignorance and you dont know what gym im talking about

You can call utter nonsense all you wish few people have and then they find themself in a pickle because they didnt think it would happen

So in conclusion for DTV keep the money in savings - and for cover make sure you have something enrolled just incase both of these are requirements of the DTV

there is no published evidence that anyone has had their DTV cancelled, and it would be huge news if they did. Immigration publicize when they cancel visas just like the crackdown on education visas last year. There is no way they would cancel a DTV because the person "didn't have the money in savings", because that is not an ongoing condition to keep the DTV. The person may have been denied entry if they didn't have the 20k baht just like every other tourist is meant to have upon entry to Thailand however again, this would have been highly publicized. So yes, nonsense heresay from you buddy

Its not about changing. Once you finish your cooking course, you are free to take whatever classes you like. Muay Thai. Thai language. They aren't tied your DTV. In fact, you could sign up for those courses before you finish your cooking classes.
