I have a flight soon to Bangkok, but I still haven't gotten the DTV visa.

I was thinking maybe of staying in a transit hotel until I get it.

Do you think it's possible?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a flight to Bangkok but has not yet received their DTV visa. They are inquiring whether staying in a transit hotel is a viable option until the visa is processed. Community members suggest that it is generally better to remain in the country where the application was made, as there may be requirements from the embassy. Some share experiences of expediting their visa applications through communication with their embassy. Ultimately, it is noted that it is possible to return to Thailand on a visa-exempt basis if the visa is delayed.

Thank You for your helpful report πŸ‘

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

As advised from others above, it's better to stay in the country of application. However, you mentioned it's cheaper for you to lose the the dtv fee than stay longer in your country, you could just fly back to Thailand on a visa exempt (if your passport permits) and hope it gets approved then. Once approved then just leave Thailand and come back to get the dtv stamp. If it gets denied then yes, you can apply in vietnam as you mentioned. Most people get approved within 5-10 business days there

if you had an appointment on 25 February 2025 to pay NIS β‚ͺ1,500.- Shekels in Cash at the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv, then 7 Working Days from 26 February 2025 would be 6 March 2025

Did you directly contact the Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv again to inquiry about the current status of your DTV E–Visa application??

How long ago did you apply and what embassy?

I called the Australian Embassy (Canberra) and spoke to them as a follow up to my urgently needed DTV as well. They were very polite and super helpful. I had the visa approved in the next 2 hours after expressing my urgent requirements, because like you I had flights and accommodation booked and did not want to lose money

@Ric****
how long were you waiting before you contacted them?

I might apply in Australia so I'm interested to know how long it took for you
Richard ******
I had been waiting 6 days
@Al**
You have to be in the country you apply from. Every Embassy may be slightly different in how they process the applications.

No idea what a transit hotel is but you need to remain in the country you applied in until the process completes

transit hotel at an airport before you pass through to immigration arrivals, for people transiting with long layover and not stamping into the country.

Go to the embassy and inquire. I did so in the USA and was approved the same day.

Israel, and passport from Israel.

I think I will fly to Thailand and try again from Vietnam later

@Nevo ******
as you are from Israel, to with Israeli passport, I strongly suggest you stay in Israel to get the DTV visa approved. Better chance of being approved in the Thai Embassy in Israel.

@Nevo ******
9 days is nothing when applying for a visa.
Steve *******
Sure, unless the embassy wants to meet you or want to see every page in your passport to prove you're still in the country you applied in.

Extend your stay instead
