Hi could you help confirm something. Last year I got the yearly extension based on having a Thai child. Am I able to renew based on having a Thai wife no problems?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring if they can renew their yearly visa extension based on their Thai wife, given that their previous extension was based on having a Thai child. Several comments confirm that if the user met the requirements for the previous extension (including 90-day reporting and proof of funds), they should be able to switch the basis for their extension to their marriage. It's recommended that the user visit their immigration office with their Thai wife before the current extension expires for guidance and to inquire about any additional documentation needed.

Yeah I got the on my own last year at CW. Reason I'm asking is coz my last day is due on the 19th and I don't think I can get the letter from my son's school on time. I'll be using the embassy letter for proof of income as I'm from NZ

It just confirms he goes to school here. Pretty sure I read somewhere here as well that another person needed it, they didnt have but they accepted a receipt of tuition fees. I dun wanna take the risk but yeah if I can change reason to marriage then I wouldn't need it

David Young i also been adviced many time by the IO to bring a school certificate for the tuition fees and it’s added to the file even for an extension based on marriage in CW
CW i have been asked for that to be included in every years extension especially if one has children but never had an issue on it just submitted the doc from school

David Young What letter is that, and what does it say? I'm looking up the requirements, and I'm not seeing a letter as a requirement for a one year extension of stay based on raising half-Thai child

What letter from your son's school? A letter from the school is not needed for Changwattana

IF you "pushed your own paper" and got your yearly extension granted at the immigration office that serves the area where you live
AND
if you've been doing 90 day reporting on time
AND
if you meet the proof of funds for a year extension based on marriage (including the 2 month seasoning of the 400K baht) you should have no issue changing the reason for your extension from one based on raising a half thai child, to one based on marriage.
Definitely GO to your immigration office with your thai wife before your current extension comes due to get the hand out and ask them if there's anything required that isn't on the list.
It works the same way, you'll apply for a new yearly extension, get a 30 day under consideration stamp and then when that winds down you go back and get the year extension inked in.

and you received this extension at the immigration office that you are supposed to use by turning in the correct paperwork on your own OR did you use an 'alternate means' to secure the extension last year?
