TLDR : Answer Summary
Opening a Thai bank account with a DTV (Digital Nomad Tourist Visa) is generally not possible, as banks typically require a non-immigrant visa to approve account applications. The DTV is considered a tourist visa, and many users in the community have confirmed that banks are strict about this policy. Some suggest utilizing agents or finding loopholes, but this comes with risks, such as potential account closure. If banking services are necessary, alternatives like digital banking apps (e.g., Wise) may serve as a viable option.

It's all a matter of time. Even if you manage to open an account with a tourist visa, after some time the bank will block your account and all the money in it.

How do you get cash out the bank? Ngern Sot !

Obtw. What I do sometimes when I don’t want my Thai LTGF to know how much money I’m sending to her/my account that I have the card for, I just send 10k Baht to a Thai friend or a shop and get them to give me the cash for 100-200baht fee. No Bank account needed money goes in ‘Gabow Tang’ the same.

Make sure your travel insurance covers rides on a scooter or motorcycle. Getting in an accident is the most probable cause of a DTV crash and burn.

Difficult, but not impossible. You need some other strong justification and documentation then just the visa. Banks generally don’t like the DTV unless you have some other strong justification or financial circumstances

The DTV is still classed as a tourist visa, so that's most likely not going to get you approved. Honestly, use Wise or another app with low transfer and conversion fees and you won't even need a Thai bank account

John R Stiles Wise does transfers internationally and you can also send transfers to Thai bank accounts if needed. All my business transactions are done through Wise and I’ve never encountered any issues (Personal experience of course, but I don’t see why your experience wouldn’t be the same).

Can you stop approving common questions? This has been asked so many times. You can search the thread and make your own decision. The answer, by the way, is difficult and maybe

You can try with an agent. If you know a businessman or the owner of an estate who can recommend you, it may work too.

TrueMoney with advanced verification provides practically all benefits of a bank account. Go for that. If you’re not a US citizen (in which case you can get fee free atm withdrawals), do a max pull (30k or whatever) from an ATM and dump it in your true account from a kiosk at any mrt station or true money shop.

The DTV is a special type of tourist visa and having a DTV does not make you eligible for a bank account.

Need non immigrant O or A visa. Usually requires you to leave and re enter Thailand to get the stamp. Paying agent will avoid that part.

Ian Stevens on a non-o/oa sure but on a dtv it's basically impossible and even if you do manage it, the moment the bank asks you to come for a document check its getting shut

For the last five years I have not used any Thai banks for any financial transactions. Unless one is using a retirement or "wife" visa, which requires keeping money for the extension, there is no need for a Thai bank.

Highly unlikely that you will be able to open a bank account on a DTV. Banks tend to require a Non-immigrant visa these days
