TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to open a bank account in Thailand with a Non-O visa. Several users have successfully opened accounts at various banks, including Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank, although experiences may vary by branch. Some users mentioned facing difficulties at certain banks while others reported smooth transactions. Hiring an agent can simplify the process, especially if you encounter challenges. It's advisable to try different branches, as rules can differ from one to another.

It should be, but depends on the bank and the branch. Seems like each branch manager make their own rules.

Avoid Krungsri at all cost. No matter which branch you go in Thailand, they treat you the worst. Their app is regularly not functioning properly. I can't even use them for connecting to my googlepay...

in all fairness, i have had Krungsri account for 4 years, use it daily. And absolutely no issues - the app is great. But.... for inbound transfers there is a 50k baht max which is ridiculous.
I’ve had great experience with Krungsri. Much shorter lines than other banks, app works great and I can use my bank card at any ATM in Thailand without a fee.
Absolutely anything is possible here. Study the system, bust a move. I had a bank account and bought a brand new motorcycle in my own name on a tourist visa. Not going to happen if you're starting at 1000 thb. Get your numbers noticeable and you'll see results

Used a agent last wk Bangkok bank 30 mins in and out should have used them long ago.
True. I opened one on an exempt at the exchange tower in Bangkok many years ago but stupidly didn’t keep money in it so lost it and didn’t have any luck after that so used an agent
I took a Thai friend with me who convinced them that I was in the process of transitioning to a Non-B visa to be a professor at Chiang Mai University. It worked - even though I ended up not taking the job.

Yes. It it easy? Depends. Will it work smoothly at every bank or branch: No. Can it be done yourself: yes. Can it be easier to just hire an agent to do so: also yes. Question asked so frequently (even today), best to use the search feature.

Yes,after all the posts I've seen on here I was expecting I right palaver. 1st bank I went to (ktb) I had the account opened within 40 mins,so it's doable.

It should be possible. You may have to try a few branches of each bank, but generally on a long term visa it’s doable

Yes. I opened two bank accounts on a non-O visa in the last 4 weeks. Kasikorn was really easy, SCB gave me lots of difficulties and I had to come back 4 times until they had green light from headquarters.
