Can I obtain a re-entry permit in my new passport while traveling with an old passport containing my visa?

I live in Koh Samui. My old passport has my non b visa in but doesnโ€™t have space for a re-entry stamp.

My new passport is ready to be collected in Bangkok and then I want to fly home to Europe.

- Can I get a re-entry permit into my new passport at BKK on my way out and travel with two passports (visa in old passport and reentry in new passport)?

- Or can I go to an immigration in Bangkok and transfer the visa to my new passport, or do I need to return to koh samui for this?

Iโ€™d like to avoid having to travel back to Koh Samui to sort this out.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user wants to know if they can obtain a re-entry permit for their new passport while leaving Bangkok, as their old passport contains a Non-B visa but no space for a re-entry stamp. Comments indicate that they may need to go to the immigration office that issued their visa extension to transfer it to the new passport before obtaining a re-entry permit. Additionally, there are suggestions about possibly authorizing someone to collect the new passport or contacting the issuing office for courier delivery.

If you contact the office holding the new passport and explain your predicament.. maybe they will agree to deliver the new passport to you by courier (eg. signed for secure package) upon payment of a small fee.. which would resolve your dilemma

Could you authorise someone to collect the passport on your behalf and mail it to you via EMS?

I am doubtful your old passport has a Non-B VISA in it and it's far more likely if you looked at the stamp it would say "extension of stay permitted until" and have a date..

If you do have the stamp I mentioned you need to go to the immigration office <- the one that issued the extension with BOTH passports and get the extension stamp moved to the new one, THEN you can buy a re-entry permit and leave.

Sadly if you got the extension stamp FROM the Koh Samui immigration office the fact that you would like to avoid going back there doesn't factor into it ๐Ÿ™ You move stamps at the office that issued it

thanks Tod, yes sorry itโ€™s the original visa sticker I have in there and then the extension of stay stamp. This is all in my old passport. But thereโ€™s no space for the re-entry permit so I got a new passport. I have to collect the new passport in person in Bangkok, but my visa extension was issued in samui ๐Ÿ˜•

So I canโ€™t do the transfer of extension stamp to the new passport in Bangkok? And I canโ€™t get the re-entry in the new passport without transferring the extension of stay to the new passport?

Thanks!

IF you were still on the original 90 days from the Non-B you could

BUT

You're not, you're on an extension of stay, and you move the stamps to the new passport BEFORE you leave the country on extensions

Correct you get the stamps transferred at the office that issued it so if that's Samui Immigrations that's where you go
