Can I move to another province while on a Non-Imm 'O' visa extension based on having half-Thai children?

If you extend your yearly Non-Imm 'O' visa extension based on half-Thai kids in one part of the country, can you subsequently move to another province to work, if the opportunity arises, without having to change this visa extension?

Thanks in advance. :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can move to another province in Thailand while holding a Non-Imm 'O' visa extension based on your half-Thai children. However, it's important to remember that you must submit a TM30 and possibly a TM28 in the new province. You should also conduct 90-day reports and prepare for your one-year extension application in the new location. Be aware that moving away from your child may impact your eligibility for the current extension, as you are generally required to live with your child to meet the extension criteria.

How long are you actually permitted to move alone to another province for if the reason for moving is for work, which pays a salary to allow me to provide for my dependants? I ask because if I have to move, it will be a while before my family can join me due to things like being in the middle of a school term, rental contract etc etc Surely even Immigration allow a certain amount of leeway in cases like this. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

you need to have your family living with you at the address you're using and at the immigration office you're going to apply for your extension at WHEN you apply for your extension. There is no "certain amount of leeway".. ๐Ÿ˜•

further to your and the other Moderator's replies, and on a related matter to my original post, if I renew my extension of stay based on my Thai kids (Non-Imm 'O' visa based on my kids originally) in a North-Eastern province, can I then use this extension of stay to get a work permit in, for example, a Southern province?

That would be between you, the employer, and the labor department. Nobody can answer that question.

You have to live together. There might be some leeway if you move due to work but that is all depending on the Immigration Officer and there are no official rules about living in another province that wife or depending children.

P.S. I will apply for and hopefully receive the extension BEFORE I even consider moving elsewhere. Just trying to figure out if I will have problems down the road in the event that I have to move for work. Thanks for both of your replies so far,

Are or will you be living with your Thai wife and or child ?

Or is your Thai child living with his Mother (your former spouse) ?

You can move inside Thailand while you keep the extension based on a Half Thai Child. You need to submit TM30, and TM28 in some provinces, then you are good to do 90days reports and applications for a 1-year extension next time in that province.

Remember, you may need to live with your child for your extension. IF you move to another province on your own, you are no longer not qualified to "meet the requirement" for your current extension.
