Hi, I am on a Non-immigrant O (Thai husband) visa and will be applying for my 1 year extension soon at the BKK Division 1. Usually there is an under-consideration period before the final extension is issued. Does anyone know if I am allowed to leave Thailand during this period with a re-entry permit? I can return in time to get the stamp for the yearly extension. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Answer summary
If you are on a Non-immigrant O (Thai husband) visa and applying for a one-year extension, you can leave Thailand during the under-consideration period as long as you have a valid re-entry permit. This permit is valid only until the under-consideration stamp expires, so make sure to return before that date to complete the extension process. Ensure to inform the immigration officer about your travel plans when applying for the extension.

Better not forget to mention to the officer that you are going to travel out of Thailand when you apply for an extension, in case..

I have just renewed my marriage visa on 2nd July, I have till 1st September and bought a re entry permit at the same time. The re entry permit only valid till the under consideration stamp expires. I’m planning the week after next to go Vietnam for 5 days and the immigration officer who did my visa renewal said as long as I’m back In Thailand before the under consideration stamp expires to ink the further 11 months, this is not a problem. I also have a work permit so I can’t let my marriage visa expire.

Could you tell me if they asked you to come back in exactly 21 days under the consideration stamp? If that’s the standard case, then I can have a peace of mind to book a return date. Thanks!

I did my renewal outside of Bangkok forgot to mention. My under consideration got added to this years visa extension. I did buy a re entry permit can be done. Just make sure back in Thailand to get the further extension inked in before expiry.

they did NOT apply at Chaengwattana, and at their office the 30 day under consideration stamp is ADDED to their current expiration date, that's why when they applied on July 2nd (a MONTH before their extension ran out) they got an U/C stamp until Sept 1st

Sadly, their info has NOTHING to do with you applying at Chaengwattana.

As I said you can do when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp)

AND

you will get a 21 day under consideration stamp and have to show up on that day.

In Bangkok they issue a 21 day under consideration stamp for marriage extensions.

As long as you have a valid re-entry permit (which is good only for that under consideration stamp) and return on/by the date that stamp runs out so you can go get the extension inked in in Section L-2, you can leave the country
