Can I leave Thailand on a NON-IMM B Visa and reenter on a Tourist Visa without issues?

Hello,

I entered Thailand as a US citizen on a NON-IMM O visa on October 21, 2019. In January I left and reentered on a single entry NON-IMM B Visa. I’m going to have to part ways with my employer three weeks earlier than expected.

I would like to leave the country and reenter on a 30 day Tourist visa then head home. Do you see any issues that may arise with this?

Also, is a departing airline ticket necessary to have at the border when reentering as a tourist?

Thanks in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen's query about leaving Thailand on a NON-IMM B Visa and reentering on a 30-day tourist visa indicates potential issues with visa types and entry requirements. The advice suggests that there is a misunderstanding about the existence of a 30-day tourist visa, pointing out the 90-day entry and the possibility of reentry at a land border without proof of onward travel.

there is no such thing as a 30 day tourist visa :O

You can stay until the 90 day entry stamp you got on that Non-B runs out then you could bounce out and back in at a land border to get a 30 day visa exempt entry. I don't know any land border that asks for proof of onward travel when stamping in on a 30 day visa exempt entry. BUT how about telling us WHAT land border you're thinking of bouncing out and back in at so we can let you know for sure?

thank you for your quick response.

I am planning on going to Vietnam by air. Then coming back also by air. (If that doesn’t complicate things too much)

On the non-b topic. Even if I resign and I am in bad standing with my employer (I am a teacher) as long as I cancel my work permit there is no risk or way for my employer to cancel the visa? It sounds like I may be safer staying in the country after I resign taking care of what I need to do then heading home.
