TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the challenges of mailing prescription medications from the UK to Thailand, particularly regarding customs regulations that can lead to confiscation. Many users recommend purchasing medications locally in Pattaya, suggesting that they are often cheaper and more accessible through local pharmacies. Some users shared their experiences of attempted shipments and the complications they faced. It is advised to check local regulations and consider purchasing from local sources, such as Medisafe Pharmacy, to avoid customs issues.

Why not buy from here? I buy all mine and turned out. Cheaper than canada

I would be cautious about posting meds, I had migraine and took paracetamol and codeine. However I needed a letter from my GP to carry. Co codomol is a banned drug in any Arab countries and also Thailand.
In case you didn’t know it’s suggested that individuals DYOR , which is similar to you saying “figure out the important shit”.

Not going to get through customs, even with tea money. If someone I know couldn't get a couple of inhalers through, or a different person I know couldn't get 1 month of blood thinners through customs it's extremely unlikely you are going to get 3 months worth of pill through.
Try Medisafe, it will probably still be "expensive" but around half the price of what you're being quoted in my experience.

You can get 3 months worth to bring with you but after that you're on your own. UK Doctors told me they would only issue that amount and to buy in country your in. So basically they don't give a damn. Hope you can buy what you want here x
of course they “give a damn” You can’t expect the NHS to give you free or greatly subsidised medication if you reside abroad.(3 months+ is residing abroad )It’s not an international HS.
you would have to register for healthcare or health insurance in the country you live at present. The NHS cannot treat you while you live abroad I am afraid.
they do give a damn they however cannot legally give out more than 3 months of prescriptions though as the system will not allow it, also last I checked doctors don't make laws and legislation, so why you are blaming them is beyond me 🤦

There is a racket called Doctor shopping, where people get get multiple scripts and sell at a profit to some poor sod in a third world country, thats the reason for the law
really, I contacted them and said I was still abroad and could I have another 3 months which my daughter could bring has she was coming to visit and that's when they said I would have to get from country I am in, thankfully for me I can buy mine here BUT what if I couldn't, did they ask me, NO

Usually there is a cheaper pharmacy near the hospitals. No idea about Pattaya

If at all possible, fill the prescription here. If it’s completely impossible check local regulations before shipping and ensure the shipment paperwork includes a copy of the prescription

My medications were confiscated at customs as I had no license t import. Sent with DHL and 2nd time by post so won't try again. Will bring with me or buy in Thailand.

You will have problems if you don't have an import license, as Thailand is very strict about pharmaceutical imports, even for personal use.
Try Fulfil Pharma in Pattaya or Medisafe Pharmacy in Bangkok. They deliver and can be much cheaper. A friend had been paying 4400 baht a month for one of his meds, now he’s paying less than half that.
the important shit is I couldn't get to see a cardiologist in uk the last time it was by telephone 20 months after major heart surgery and he asked how my heart was my reply was that I'm speaking to you on the telephone so I think it is still beating he said keep taking the tablets I'll try and get you in for a face to face in 6 months that was nearly a year ago 🤣🤣🤣🤣
yes you right there I've had little after care in uk following major heart surgery 😁

Buy it at a local pharmacy. Or mail order if the price is even better. (yes of course you can post meds, but you don't want them sent from UK and stuck at Thai customs)
I get my heart meds locally. eg Ranexa 1,900 baht for a box of 60. It's the most expensive meds I take. Most are 100-400 for a month supply
Oh, I wasn't meaning that to you Steve, as I'm sure you've learned your lesson, same as I endured 😄. I'd just like to let folks contemplating the move here to be absolutely sure they'll be free from the stress we've both endured once they're already here🙏
that's how I ended up having major heart surgery by being treated over the phone for a chest infection, only when I went into heart failure did they find a large tumour (myxoma)growing in the left hand chamber and gave me 4 days to live if they couldn't remove it !!
if you’ve emmigrated to Thailand, you’re not eligible for any NHS treatment, services or free prescriptions. You need to join the health service or pay for insurance in the country you’re living.
I've not emigrated. I get free NHS prescriptions and medication. But I buy stuff in Thailand when there. Other than medication for major health issues, I treat myself for most things at home.
There are many places to buy medication, avoid the tourist pharmacy. I buy 10 x 500mg amoxicillin for 35 baht, the tourist pharmacy with fancy packaging is 450 baht
absolutely the correct advice why risk customs issues just show the dr a copy of his prescription and he will write him one up dont ever understand the lengths people go to for such a simple procedure
