Can I get leniency for one day overstay on my Non-O visa in Thailand?

Just looking for a piece of advice . I made a slight cock up of my departure from BKK next March. I have a Non O visa (marriage) and with an extension I will be 1 day over on departure.

In all the decades I have visited here I have never overstayed.

I will be going for my extension next month. Is it possible that Immigration could allow me that extra day?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks advice regarding a potential one-day overstay while departing Thailand on a Non-O (marriage) visa. The original poster (OP) is concerned about their visa status, as they plan to apply for an extension but will still be one day over the legal departure date. Community members provide mixed responses, suggesting options such as changing the flight, staying at the airport, or confirming with immigration if a short overstay might be tolerated. Clarification on the OP's specific visa status is sought by several commenters to provide more targeted advice.

I called airport immigration because I have friends in a similar situation and asked about overstays. Immigration told us that an overstay of up to 24 hours is not counted as an overstay and no fine needs to be paid at the airport.

My friends already traveled about 8 hours after their stamp expired and they did not pay anything. However, I am not sure how this will be recorded or counted for future visa applications.

It’s best to call the airport immigration office directly and ask, to be sure.

I reckon JF doesn't have a 1-year extension. He seems to visit his Thai wife on a 90 days Non-O Family visa, and then extends for 60 days based on "family visit". Thus getting 5 months of stay outta it. And now he is one day short . . we need more detail, without him telling us what kind of visa or extension he is on, we can't give him proper advice

Check this alternative, that does not include the application to the “60-days visit family“ extension:

*** exit Thailand shortly before the 90-days stay permit out of your Non-Imm-O visa expires.

*** Spend a nice holiday of a few days/ one week in a neighbouring country . . like going to Luang Prabang, or fly to Penang or Langkawi or to Da Nang Vietnam. Take your darling with you

*** when you fly and re-enter visa-exempt back into Thailand, your return flight is the perfect onward travel proof, and you will get stamped in for 60 days. You won’t have any overstay

You can apply for another 12 month extension up to 45 days before you depart. What is the problem?

Well he needs to sort something else out in future.

Non o marriage visa your extension should be 1 year with 90 day reporting

@Greg **********
so he’s not going for the one year extension just to extend the 90 day visa another 60 days, and he needs 61 days am I right or confused

@Robin ******
you are correct

@JF ******
can you go to immigration and ask them what to do
Greg ***********
@Robin ******
I think so, that's what he is trying to tell us. We need more detail or this thread becomes a train wreck fulla speculations
Greg ***********
@Robin ******
as married to a Thai wife, you can add a 60-days "family visit" extension on top of those 90 days, no problem. But only once per entry

The OP question makes zero sense

@Jack ****
I understood it

Considering all the crack downs and tightening going on - change your flight
Jim *******
@Steve ***
Most people here buy flights at rock bottom prices, no changes, no refunds. Lose it and buy new ticket.

What time is your flight? Is it possible to stay at the airport past immigration before 12am of the last day of your departure? It'd be the best option if you could wait there/the flight is in the morning.
Greg ***********
@Samuel ******
yeah but you can't check in your baggage more than 4-5 hours before the actual flight

Extension on a Non O is 12 months go next month you certainly not be on overstay

Or 60 days if you have Thai dependant relatives

@Steve ******
yes thats very true but as Brandon said not enough info so I took a stab in the dark :) i should have said both options
GiftedF*******
Why risk tarnishing your record. Move your flight.
Todd *********
GiftedFish5406 no risk really

I'm a little confused. Which extension are you applying for? They will 100% not add an extra day for you, so you can forget about that option. But it's hard to say what options you might have because your post is confusing and doesn't include enough information like when you entered, when your entry stamp went until, what extension you are applying for and when it will go until.

@Brandon ***********
I will get a 60 day extension which runs out in March.

You answered my question in your second sentence. Thank you
Brandon ************
@JF ******
there are a few options if you'll actually run out a day early.

1) depending on your flight time, you can try checking in early and crossing through passport control before midnight

2) you can go 2-3 days before your extension expires and see if they'll accept an extension application that you don't qualify for. If they accept the application, they'll give you a 7-day "extension denied" stamp starting from the day of application.

3) overstay one day. There's no fine for one day overstay if leaving from an airport.

I think I remember getting this a few years ago.
