Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone has recent experience getting a 90 day non-immigrant O visa with intent to get a one year retirement visa in Bangkok doing it themselves. I have heard so much conflicting info regarding what is posted on the Thai Immigration website versus what may be asked for when I apply in person so debating just sticking with an agent. Any thoughts oh great hive mind?

it is all quite easy. You don't need an agent. The most difficult part of the whole process is getting your Thai bank account, and getting the required bt800,000 transferred into that account from an overseas source. An agent can not do that for you. Once that money has been in your account for at least two months, and you have less than 30 days, some offices 45 days on your entry stamp, you can apply for your one year extension. Like I said, the most difficult part of the whole process is getting your Thai bank account, and getting the money transferred in from an overseas source.

thanks so much. I got my bank account and am in the process of transferring 800,000 baht. It seems straightforward but just worry if there are any last minute requirements like proof of rental agreements inlcyding photos (someone told me the official asked for further proof in this way). Thank you!!

this list is from Phuket immigration yesterday. I cannot stress enough, go and speak to the right person at your local immigration office. I only got this list after 3 visits giving conflicting information.

Go early . Take all documents that are usual and that will give you time to get any other documents needed. The only downside is you may have to redo your bank statement but that should only be 200 baht as it needs to be submitted within 24 hours.

That is not correct. The bank letter is good for 3 business days.

I got my non O in koh phangan and extension in koh samui. Both required updated Bank statement and bank condemnation letter no older than 24 hours

In Pattaya the letter is valid for 3 business days. But the bank book has to be updated the same day you apply.

Once you know the documents needed it's relatively straightforward. The problem with hive minds is your gonna get everyone's 'opinion'. The only way to get right information is to go to your local immigration office find the person that deals with the type of visa you want and ask them to give you a list of their requirements. Ask specific questions until you get specific answers.

I worry about turning my passport over to an agent. Too many stories of them taking your money and skipping town with your documents.

hi, right, but I think there are reliable agencies with proper office and legally established that can help with applications
