So, my current plan is to enter visa exempt for 30 days in April. Leave to Bali for a week and apply for the 60 day tourist visa in Bali. Then apply for the 30 day extension in Thailand when the 60 days are up. Is it okay to apply for the 60 day tourist visa in Bali as soon as we touch down and be approved within the week?

Furthermore, is it at all possible to apply for the 60-day tourist visa while still in thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to enter Thailand on a visa exempt basis for 30 days, travel to Bali, and then apply for a 60-day tourist visa while in Bali. There are differing opinions on whether the Thai consulate in Bali is currently open for visa applications. Some users suggest applying for the 60-day visa from their home country before entering Thailand, while others note potential difficulties applying from Bali. Concerns about consulate closures and the necessity to travel to Jakarta for visa applications are also raised, alongside the requirements for applying for visas.

a quick Google search would tell you the Thai Embassy in Bali was open today until noon and reopens at 9:00a.m tomorrow. Their plan is sound and I'm doing something similar in January.

Evidence of confirmed accommodation in Thailand:

they are closed along with all Honary Thai consulates world wide.

You can only apply in Jakarta

last reports seen on here indicate that it’s closed. Certainly haven’t seen any reports that that’s changed. People there were told they’d have to go to Jakarta.

It’s open to help Thai nationals around the area. Not for tourist purposes.

do you know this to be a fact? I was intending on doing the same? I know the G20 has thrown a wrench into a lot of Bali activities.

As others have said, honorary consulates around the world no longer issue visas. Those that still operate do so for Thai nationals only.

A bit tricky
@Johnny ******
. If they see the sticker in the passport they almost certainly use that. But you can ask the imm. officer. Should you have an E-visa (printed .pdf) your chances are a bit better, but still not sure they do that. Think they can see in their system you have a tourist visa. Not sure about that.

Aha
@Johnny ******
, much better chance indeed. Still a bit 🤞. And she always can ask.

I know people have been able to do it but it's because they didn't receive the e-visa on time and already entered Thailand using the 30days exemption stamp.

She's from the USA so she would be applying with the E-Visa system.

When entering with an evisa she'll need to show her boarding pass from the country the evisa was issued in.

I didn’t 🤷‍♂️

Passport and evisa

Apply for the 60day Tourist visa from your home country. Once issued it will be valid for 3 months meaning you have 3 months to use it. When you arrive in Thailand the first time don't use the visa and enter with the 30 day visa exempt. When you go to Bali for the week and re enter Thailand use the 60day Tourist visa. (Should be still valid but check the dates and enter before it expires) .

As far as I know the consulate in Bali is closed. Happy to be updated if not the case.
