Hi thanks for the add I’ve been following this forum and it’s very informative and helpful. I have a quick question

We entered Thailand on a visa exemption/visa on arrival. Stamped in for 30days I know I can extend it only once for 30 days. After that if I leave through a land border and return the same day will I get a another 30 day visa exemption/visa on arrival.

Thank I’m advance Fergal Drea

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired whether they could re-enter Thailand through a land border after initially entering on a visa exemption for 30 days and if they would receive another 30-day visa exemption. Responses clarified that while re-entering is allowed, some borders may require a day between exits and entries. They confirmed that after a visa exemption entry, the user could get a new 30-day Visa Exempt Entry upon re-entry. However, it was noted that this can only be done twice per calendar year, and there are total potential stay extensions available.

if you flew in and got your first 30 day Visa Exempt Entry at the airport, you can leave by land twice and get 30 days each time and extend each one for another 30 days for a total of almost 180 days if you time it perfectly.

thanks Jeff.

Some borders prefer you leave a day between exit and entry. It was the case a few times.

That is not the Thai border, but I guess you refer to the Immigration rules of Cambodia who mention that persons need to stay minimum 1 night.

This is also not all Border crossings for Cambodia, some don't care if you enter and leave 5 minutes later.

yes, that was it.

IF you got an Admitted to stay period of 30 days it is called an Visa Exempt Entry, NOT a Visa on Arrival which some countries need to buy for 2.000 Thb and only give 15 days of stay.

Yes, if you re-enter by land you get a new 30 day Visa Exempt Entry but can only do this twice a calendar year.
