Morning everyone! I arrived in Thailand from Spain on a visa exempt (arrival Dec 8th, expires on Jan 6th).

Am I allowed to FIRST get a 30-day extension (which would be valid until around Feb 5th), and in the meantime apply for the Covid Extension (which I understand is on until Jan 25th)?

Meaning, I would get the 30-day extension until Feb 5th, and Covid extension until April 5th?

Thanks and have a lovely day!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user asks about the process of obtaining a 30-day extension on their visa exempt status in Thailand and the possibility of concurrently applying for a Covid extension. Responses indicate that while it is generally possible to apply for a 30-day extension first, the Covid extension usually starts from the day of application, and there can be restrictions based on the immigration office's specific policies.

Normally a first Covid extension starts on the day you apply for it, assuming immigration see fit to issue you one. So 30 day extension then go see if immigration will issue you a Covid extension before the 25th January. Covid extension is not a right so be prepared to have an alternative

Different immigration offices have different policies, and this question may be immigration office specific.

You can find my FAQ about the 60 Day Extension of Stay Based on Unable to travel due to COVID-19 at

That provides best practices.

At most immigration offices, you can apply for an extension of stay when you have 45 days remaining on your current stamp. For the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, the extension of stay begins on the date you apply for it (at most immigration offices). You can only stay 60 days past Jan 25, which should let you stay until Saturday, March 26 (Thanks
