Hello! Entered Thailand (Phuket) the 28th of january on a 30 days tourist exemption visa that expires the 27 of february. I am training muay thai and i would like to stay 80-85 days. At what point is best to apply for the extension? Can i apply directly for the 60 days covid extension? Which is the best immigration office in Phuket? Thanks ๐๐ฝ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on extending their 30-day tourist exemption visa while training in muay thai in Thailand. They want to know when to apply for an extension and if they can switch to a 60-day COVID extension directly. Responses suggest applying for a 30-day extension first before qualifying for the COVID extension, and recommend visiting the Phuket immigration office to confirm local rules.
, the new covid extension program says that people who recently entered on a visa exempt OR atourist visa entry have to take their one 30 day regular extension BEFORE they apply for a 60 day covid extension
SO I see a trip to the Phuket immigration office in your near future to see if they are following that rule or not.

Before the extra 30 days ends you can apply for the 60 days Extension of Stay based on unable to travel.
so just a question here on the 'unable to travel' term. How does that work? It seems to me that people are mostly able to travel back to their country. Yet I've seen lots of times people using this phrase to get extra time here . I don't understand how IO give that
that you don't understand the immigration offices are giving this does NOT mean that many many MANY tens of thousands of people aren't on covid extensions now.
As long as it's before the 25th of March you can go an apply for a 60 day covid extension at the immigration office in your area
you're looking for logic where there is none. People have been able to LEAVE thailand since it locked down back on March 23rd 2020, yet there are MANY people here who have been here since before the lock down milking the free amnesty and then covid extensions ๐ฎ
