I have a 60 day tourist visa that expired on 12th April. I did not get my 30 day extension due to the amnesty extension allowing me to not gather at the immigration office. My question is if i go to immigration now and get my 30 day extension will that give me time until 12th May or will they give me 30 days from present date at immigration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they can obtain a 30-day extension for their expired 60-day tourist visa and if that extension would be valid until May 12 or just for 30 days from the date of application. There is community feedback suggesting that they are likely too late for the extension and should wait for further developments regarding visa regulations.

Must be your lucky day
@Nath*****
, the thai cabinet just approved extending the blanket amnesty until July 31st. It should take effect before this amnesty (good to the 30th) runs out.

Take care, stay safe,

NO you can't use some of the "free amnesty" then change your mind half way thru and go apply for the 30 day extension.

You wait until the 30th like everyone else and see what the government says you (and the thousands of people on the "free-2-stay until the 30th" amnesty) do.

How did April 12 (from your post) turn into May 12th?

I believe you are too late to get your 30 days extension.

You could go to Thai Immigration and ask. If denied...you can stay until April 30.

And as Robert stated...wait to see if any added amnesty extension is granted in May.

You did not care for 9 days, I would say stay until 30 April and wait what the new announcement bring for next month.

It is 21 April today and Immigration did not close one day, you supposed to report before 12 April, that is 9 days ago
