Hi. We have a 60 day SETV ending May 5th. We want to get the 30 day extension. We are in Koh Pha-ngan and would need to go to Samui immigration. I have been following the group and it seems it’s best to go before the 30th April Amnesty is over as I’m sure immigration will be busy after that. However just checking before we make the trip to Samui that immigration are still issuing extensions on 60day tourist visas as they normally would. Also anyone been to Samui recently... can we expect quiet/small queues? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about obtaining a 30-day extension for their 60-day SETV before the April amnesty ends, and whether Samui Immigration is still issuing these extensions. Responses indicate that immigration is currently offering extensions, though users are advised to wait until closer to the amnesty deadline for potential changes. Observations about the current occupancy of immigration offices and personal experiences are also encouraged.

You have a single entry tourist visa that is valid for 60 days. The entry stamp is expires on May 5th. You are outside of the existing amnesty program. You have three options:

1. Go to Samui Immigration and get a 30 day extension of stay based on being a tourist for 1,900 THB. You can be able to stay here until (around) June 5th. This time is added to your current entry stamp. Immigration offices are nearly empty now, however ask a local Samui group for specific details.

2. Wait until around May 4th to see what type of visa changes may occur, such as additional visa amnesties programs. However, if there is no new amnesty program, Samui Immigration may be full of people, and it may take you a long time to get the extension of stay.

3. Catch the next flight back to your home country. It's not something you're asking about, but it is an option. I'm not going to discuss this option further.

You're an adult, and which choice you decide is based on your risk tolerance.

I don't see any value in keeping this thread open. If anyone disagrees, send me a message and I'll re-open comments.

Good luck!

I would hang on until 28th or so if you can as there may be another amnesty and if there is it saves you 1900 thb and a lot of messing

Do you know if its possible though? We have a 1 year old and could do without the hassle but also do not want to be in queues that last several hours if the amnesty doesn’t extend...

@Scott ******
but what IF... Its difficult to get to Samui Immigration? The 28th is a Tuesday.

IMHO...go get the guaranteed 30 day extension.

Immigration is still offering the normal Extension of Stay.

How busy it is at Koh Samui office and if it is possible to use the ferry for a visit, I have no idea but lets us wait for people being there.

Or ask in a local group for people with experience at he moment.
