Hi,

We have a non immigrant O visa (+50 yo)

If we go to a very « laid back » immigration office, is there any chance of getting a 30 day extension ?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The only available extension for a Non-Immigrant O visa is a one-year extension of stay. To obtain a 30-day extension, you may need to leave Thailand and reenter, which can grant you a 30-day visa exemption upon arrival. It's important to check with your local Thai immigration office about their specific requirements. As for the extension of stay, if you are a UK or French passport holder, a border run might allow you to reenter for another 30 days. Also, keep in mind that obtaining an affidavit for income or pension may vary depending on your nationality, impacting your ability to extend your stay.

based on your previous post I see you’re from UK and your husband is French. Therefore you both are entitled to do a border run and get a 30 days visa exemption with another 30 days extension locally.

For applying for an Extension of Stay the French embassy still offers to provide a affidavit letter to confirm income/pension, but unfortunately the UK embassy don’t provide this service anymore. Therefore you’ll need to bank 800K thb in a thai bank if you wish to apply for an extension of stay based on your Non O visa.

Thank you, that’s what I thought. I will look into doing a border run

I guess this is your best option as the funds also need to be seasoned for two months before you apply for your extension of stay based on your Non O visa, but now you know the options in the future.😉

No, Extension of Stay is only available for a year at time. But they can of course leave when they want and get a re-entry permit if they want to come back before it expires.

Sorry but the ONLY extension available is the one year extension of stay.

Ask your Thai immigration office for their requirements.

OR... if you are eligible,

Leave and reenter Thailand can get you a 30 day stamp as Visa Exempt.

By doing a BORDER BOUNCE.

You did not say what your passport nation is... ??? It may be France.

Just how long are you really planning on staying in Thailand?

As you appear to be a regular visitor .
