Can I extend the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand for more than 5 years, and what are the requirements for applying?

Hello, I have a few questions.

° Can you stay for 5 years (extend the visa) or is there a limit of stay for the DTV ?

° Can you ask for the DTV online?

° For the Muay Thai route, is it ok to plan to do it once a week (can't more), and if so, how many months should I pay for to make sure my DTV is granted?

I have been living in Thailand for 2+ years. When asked for my address, should I write my Thai address, or the one in my home country?

Many thanks 🙏🌷

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) allows for limited stays, typically requiring a border run or extension after 180 days, with a maximum of 360 days in a year. Online applications for the DTV are available depending on the applicant's nationality. While attending Muay Thai training once a week may be sufficient, it is advisable to enroll and pay for at least 6 months at a training gym to ensure DTV approval. When applying, expats should use their home country address rather than their Thai address.

1) no one knows yet but 180 days hits you have to border run or pay for extension, max 360 days per year out if 365 also.

2) on the visa online app, you’ll see if your home country shows up as eligible for e visa

3) highly recommend getting 6+ months paid for thru a gym that has gotten people their dtv’s. there’s no rules on how much you attend or how many times per week. the gym will send you certain documents and you send that in with your app all in 1 pdf (3mb max size so may need to compress. there’s free websites to make your single pdf file and also to compress the file if needed to fit under 3mb)

You should at least read the basics about the visa. Then start asking questions.

first question no one no ,, but you need visa run every 180 days

second question ,, it's all about your nationality some countries they can apply online and get DTV online

third question you can go the gym as much as you want and you can just skip it immigration officials will not monitor your training also its recommended by some embassies to book and pay for 6 months course to be in the safe side

last question you need to put your home address

Anonymous participant 103 to NOT actively participate in the training could be a problem as Thai Immigration Officers could request attendance verification from the school. As they have done with the Ed Visa participants. THIS DTV Visa is subject to change and would happen as Thai Immigration discovers abuse and a fraudulent obtained DTV visa. Be careful. The recent years of crackdown on the fraud obtained by Ed Visa and Volunteer Visas could pose a similar problem for those who abuse the DTV visa. Good Luck 🍀

It's pure speculation and fear mongering. This is a Tourist Visa and not a non-Immigrant Visa. The fact it's granted 5 years and the initial reason for getting the Visa expires after the first 6 months there is zero reason to believe they care about what you are doing on this Visa other than being a tourist.
