Can I apply for a 60-day family extension as a spouse of a Thai citizen after an amnesty period?

Although I did a 30 day visa exempt extension followed by these amnesty periods, I went down to Chiang Mai immigration this morning to see if I am qualified for an additional 60 day family extension as I am married to a Thai citizen. Yes! I can get an extension at the end of this amnesty month and the immigration office suggested going back towards the end of next month with the required documents as they will be dated from the date you apply. Hope this helps someone out there!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience applying for a 60-day family extension at Chiang Mai immigration due to their marriage to a Thai citizen, confirming eligibility after previously utilizing a 30-day visa exempt extension and amnesty periods. They were advised to return towards the end of the amnesty month with the necessary documents, as the extension will be dated from the application date. Comments from others provided additional insights on the process, including the potential to apply for a 90-day Non-O visa and annual extensions based on marriage, easing some requirements for foreign females married to Thai males.

I was told the same thing yesterday when I went to apply for the 60 Day Family Visa.

The immigration officer told to come closer to the date or else it would be 'wasted' if I apply now since there is the amnesty in force.

i am in the process of doing the exact same thing off an expired ED visa. good to know it’s accepted but annoying that they won’t follow the rule and date it now for sept 27. i may go tmw and try anyways.

i think we have different visas, so it’s worth a shot; just for my own sanity. did you take your husband with you?

without husband no extension, you both must prove the marriage is de jure and de facto

Thanx for the update.

Just so you know, IF you're married to a thai once you get the 60 day visit thai family extension you can then apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa (because you need real days left on a stamp in your passport to do that) AND once you get that you can apply for a yearly extension based on marriage too.

PLUS seeing you are a foreign female married to a thai male you don't need to show proof of funds for the Non-O visa or the marriage extension.

Talk to them about it when you go in to get your 60 day visit thai family extension

females don't need to show funds for a non-o? I am learning something every day! 🙏

I thought extensions were to be dated from Sept 27 onwards

It seems that some offices are telling people to come back closer to the amnesty running out and that their extension would be dated from the date they applied not from the 27th of Sept.
