TLDR : Answer Summary
You can extend your tourist visa exemption at the Chiang Mai Immigration office as early as 45 days before your current visa expires. When using the Chiang Mai office, you must ensure you have 45 days or less remaining on your visa to qualify for the extension. Additionally, it's important to note that a TM30 form is required for all extensions.

, if you have a visa EXEMPT stamp OR a 60-day Tourist Visa and you wish to extend it for 30 days, you can visit an immigration office with forms and 1900 baht.

I misunderstood. Yes, 30 + 30 is total of 60 days. Exempt is free then the fee.

If you arrive this month, you get 45 days. And could get a total of 75 days before having to leave the country.

It can be done when you have 45 days or less left if you're using the ChiangMai office. Which means you can go as soon as it arrive you Thailand since visa exempt is 45 days.

Please note that ChiangMai requires a TM30 for all extensions.
