TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks confirmation on the length of visa extensions for a visa exemption on arrival by road. Comments clarify that only certain countries, including Russia and Vietnam, can extend their 30-day visa exemption for only 7 days. However, different rules apply based on the passport country, with Belgium being able to obtain a 30-day extension for a fee.

Unless I'm wrong, these are the countries that can only get 7 day extensions on the 30 day visa exempt stamp they get (no matter how they come into the country):

Hong Kong, Laos, Macao, Mongolia, Russia & Vietnam

correct, because these countries have bilateral agreements.

Maybe you hear that from some Russians.

They can get just a 7 day extension at Immigration, no matter if they enter by plane or land.

One more thing. There is no reason to wait until your current stamp is almost expiring because they ADD the 30 days to your current expiration date. You don't lose any days going early.

The way you enter thailand has no bearing on whether you can get a 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry. The country you come from controls that not how you enter.

What country is your passport from?
