Hi Tod and team.

Looking for your expert advice as usual. Thanks in advance!

Background:

- my husband will extend his O-A visa in February as it expires in March and we can’t bounce out to get the extra year on his current visa

- we have the THB 800k in the account already and know it has to stay there for 2 months before and 3 months after, then stay above 400k

- I am currently on an extension of stay as trailing spouse

Now the questions:

1. Will I be able to further extend based on his extended O-A? (ps not sure it’s called extended O-A but am confident you know what I mean)

2. Is there any additional requirement for funds to be somewhere to support my extension? First time they wanted to see bank book but didn’t specify what they were looking for

Many thanks for your help 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about extending their visa as a trailing spouse based on their husband's upcoming O-A visa extension. They confirm having the necessary funds and seek clarification on whether they can extend their stay and if additional financial proof is needed. Responses indicate that the user's extension does not require proof of funds, as it is tied to their husband's financial eligibility, but both must meet mandatory insurance requirements when applying.

Your trailing spouse extension doesn't require proof of funds, because you're getting your year based on being married to someone who does meet the financial requirements for their extension. They should only require your husbands proof of funds to be in a thai bank account in his name only for the 2 months before he applies and have the letter from the bank and update the bank book the day he applies

fabulous! Thanks so much 😁🙏

Remember BOTH of you will need to meet the mandatory insurance requirements when you get an extension on the O-A visa from one of the 15 approved thai insurance carriers from this link. You need to be covered when you apply for the extension.

thanks for this. The current one expires in March, are we ok to show the new one starting March hence sharing the current and new certificates to show the entire covered period?

yep, that's exactly what you do, show both policies, the one that covers you now and one that will cover you going forward once this one runs out

the less expensive agreed insurance is the LMG plan 1 with deductible 200K. It doesn’t cover anything, but has been agreed.
