Hi group.
I have a question trailing spouse visa to my husband’s non-O retirement visa.
My husband has a 1 year extension of stay (EoS) based on retirement using the 800k banking method. How can I be added as trailing spouse to his EoS?
I have friends that managed to do this 5+ years ago... in Kuala Lumpur and also Vientiane.
I contacted the Thai consulate in the USA (Wash DC) and they told me that it’s not possible to add a spouse to a non-O visa, (only to a work permit holder, which wasn't mentioned in the requirements on the e-visa website). Since I'd already paid $80usd, they issued me a 60 day tourist visa instead.
I read in this group that some couples have tried in recent times to get a dependent visa for their spouse.
Does anyone have actual experience with adding a spouse to a non-O EoS in Thailand? Or do I need to follow the same procedure as my husband did?
Current visas:
Husband: 1 year non-O based on retirement issued at Jomtien in Dec 2022.
Me: 50+ years old, 3 visits VoA since June 2022. Currently on 60 day tourist until March 22.
Thank you.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on how to be added as a trailing spouse to their husband's non-O retirement visa extension in Thailand, after being informed by the Thai consulate that it might not be possible. They reference past experiences of others in similar situations and inquire about recent procedures or experiences in obtaining a spouse visa related to a non-O visa.
