Update on my post in March 21, which I hope may be useful to some re: Non O Retirement visa extension with trailing spouse. My husbands old passport expired thus making his yearly extension expire/end 2 months earlier than my own which meant that we were out of sync for further extensions/90 day check-ins. We were given conflicting answers by Immigration staff at the Samui office at that time as to whether he would have to apply for his own visa extension or could rejoin onto my extension which expires in June. We visited the office 2 days ago with all documents prepared for both eventualities. At the 1st desk where all paperwork is checked, we were told he would have to apply for his own extension. When reaching the desk that deals with retirement visas/extensions, we again asked if my husband could return as a trailing spouse attached to my extension & he was told yes (by the same member of staff who had originally told us that it was not possible previously). All completed & ready by the next day, so we are now back in sync for future extensions, saving my husband from having to have the 800k in his own bank account & having to do different 90 day check-ins to me. I hope this will be useful to others & would like to say a big THANK YOU THAI VISA ADVICE & others that commented on my previous post. Personally, I think it's always worth asking the staff at any Immigration Office politely & with a smile more than once especially if your query gets 'lost in translation'.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The author shares an update regarding the Non O Retirement visa extension process, highlighting the complexities faced when one spouse's old passport expired, resulting in a mismatch of visa extension expiration dates. After receiving conflicting information from the Immigration Office regarding whether the husband could join the wife's extension or needed his own, they ultimately confirmed he could be a trailing spouse on her extension. This resolved their issues regarding bank account requirements and separate 90-day check-ins.
