Hello folks ...

My current Thai wife visa extension of stay is permitted up to 2 August 2025.

My current US passport expires in May 2026.

Would you confirm that I can apply for my visa extension with my current passport, however, the extension of stay will be permitted up to my passport expiration date in May 2026?

Thank you kindly ...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about applying for a visa extension in Thailand with a current passport that expires in May 2026, while the current visa extension is valid until August 2025. Multiple comments confirm that the user can apply for the extension, but it will only be valid until the passport's expiration date in May 2026. They recommend renewing the passport before applying for an extension.

Thanks Tod, my passport expires in July 2026, my extension is until Sept 2025. I'll apply for a new passport tomorrow, it should just get here on time.

good luck with it (y) You should get the new passport before your extension is due (so you won't get shorted any time)

You are 100% correct,

There is no problem applying for a new yearly extension this year

BUT

as you mentioned with a passport expiring on May 2026 you would only get the extension until that date

AND

even when you renew your passport you don't get the "lost time" added to your extension when you move the stamps.

Your new expiration date of your extension will be May from then on

Thank you
@T**
... I've been wanting to change my visa renewal date for several years while keeping a contiguous valid extension ... this situation will force that to happen which I am happy about ... I don't mind the lost time ...

Thanks again ...
