Booked return trip to Thailand before the 60 days was changed to return to 30 days. Usually travel 40 days. Aside from changing flights what advice do you have? Flying from US. Can I get visa extension from home country?
Answer summary
The current visa-exemption rule for US citizens traveling to Thailand still allows for a 60-day stay. To ensure compliance with the stated travel plans, it is recommended to apply for a tourist visa through the Thai e-visa system to guarantee a 60-day entry upon arrival. Extensions cannot be obtained from the home country, and if the visa policy changes before travel, a temporary exit flight can be purchased for immigration requirements.

depends on when you actually arrive in Thailand. but if it changes to 30 days before you fly, just by a cheap one way flight out before the 30 days ends. You dont actually use it. Its just show immigration your complying. Then get an extension +30 days, that way you keep your original return flight.
There has not been any change to visa exempt entry yet. It's still 60 days.
I would recommend applying for a tourist visa from the online Thai e-visa system so you'll guarantee yourself 60 days on arrival and have one less thing to worry about for your trip.
There's no such thing as an extension obtained from your home country.
