Hi

I am planning on visiting Thailand for as much as 3 to 4months ,I realise that I can possibly get a extension visa for the first 59 days.to stay longer I can fly out of the country and return or can do by land border is this correct.

Also I am not sure on a return date to my home country,I am not sure if this question is relevant to this group.can you enter Thailand with out a set return ticket.

Thank you in advance any information would be mostly appreciated.

Cheers.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to visit Thailand for 3 to 4 months and seeks information on visa extension options and rules regarding entry without a return ticket. Responses indicate that while a return ticket is not always required for entry, airlines may impose their own policies, and it's possible to be asked for proof of onward travel at check-in or upon entry.

I was asked for proof of onward travel by Thai Airways during check-in in Zurich (visa exempt entry)

Technically you need a return ticket but I've never been asked and was there this year. I don't think they have the time or ability to check. From uk I went through 3 airports and wasn't even spoken to once. I didn't have a return as I didn't know when I was returning as I wanted to extend but everything was fine. Not even when I extended was I asked about return flights and only booked return days before I left.

If coming with no visa from a country that allows a visa exempt entry then you would get get 30 days (29 nights). Almost certainly immigration won’t ask for an onward or return ticket (although they could if your entry history is extensive) but your airline may insist on one within the initial number of days allowed regardless that you could get an extension.

Ask you're airline about their policy as it is possible that they will require proof of onward travel within the time that you will be stamped in for (30 days Visa Exempt or 60 days Tourist Visa)
