Can I extend my multiple-entry non-B visa for one month, or should I do a border bounce before it expires?

Hey guys! I'm on a multiple-entry non-B visa that expires March 10.

My partner's visa expires one month later and I'd like to sync up with him. Am I able to get a one-month extension at immigration?

Or failing that, would it screw anything up just to do a border bounce?

Thanks for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a multiple-entry non-B visa expiring on March 10 and wants to sync the expiry with their partner's visa. Comments clarify that the multi-entry non-B visa does not allow for a one-month extension, but suggests that a border bounce before the expiry can grant another 90-day permission of stay. The discussion also highlights the importance of understanding the distinction between visa validity and permission of stay.

Hey
@Kaila **********
, the border bounce before the visa expire date will definitely give you the extra 90 days, just make sure that your work permit is still valid long enough, so that you can still get the new Non B Multiple entry, when you go and apply for that later on....

Thanks so much for your help guys!

then as long as you exit and re-enter the country on or prior to the "enter before" date on the visa itself you will get stamped in for 90 days.

This is a year-long, multi-entry visa (from a thai consulate outside the country), and below it is a year long extension of stay (from the thai immigration office inside the country).

Which one of those do you have in your passport now??
Elena **********
how does one get one year extension within Thailand?
Tod *********
It doesn't matter If you are indeed on a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa (that you got at a thai consulate outside the country and which requires you border-bounce every 90 days to get another 90 day stamp),

OR

if you're on a yearly extension of stay (that you got inside the country at the thai immigration office) there's no way to sync up yours and your partners expiration dates.

Don't för that your wp needs to be valid for at least 8 months if you are applying for your next multiple entry visa in penang

GREAT. Do one more. Many people don't know it but your 1 yr. Non-B is actually "usable" for 15 month :-) when border bouncing and not going through immigration. You CAn get another 90 days on the very last day of your Visa.

Nope I just didn't know you could extend past your one-year expiry date, that's all!! I do border bounces every 90 days for my multiple entry non-b.

@Tod ********
Or she's been doing 90 day reports at Imm?

@Valère ************************
her suprise at getting 90 days when border bouncing makes me think she's on an extension NOT on a year-long, multi-entry Non-B where she'd be border bouncing every 90 days
Valère *************************
I don't think she really want's to sync date to date but just wants to extend her stay legally till her partner visa runs out 30 days after hers....

You cannot extend the permission of stay from a multi nonB for 30 days. You can extend for 12 months for work purposes with all the supporting documents required. In your situation it's best to exit Thailand and reenter before or on March 10th, and doing so you will receive another 90 day permission of stay.

@Kaila **********
you should also not confuse permission of stay with visa validity and exit Thailand before your current 90 day permission of stay ends, otherwise you would go on overstay. Unless that date is already past March 10th. What does it say on your current stamp. Admitted until when?

@Kaila **********
Yes you can do a border bounce untill March 10 and get another 90 day permission of stay.

yes to what? Yes, I can do a border bounce and get another 90 days you mean?
Luke ******
@Kaila **********
A multiple entry non B visa allows unlimited entries until its expiry date, and on every entry you receive a permission of stay of 90 days. So if the visa expires on March 10th and you enter let's say on March 8th, you will receive a permission of stay admitted until June 7th
Valère *************************
Kaila Krayewski If it's your Visa that expires on 10 March yes. I'm not sure if you can extend an extension of stay based on non-B by border bounce.
Luke ******
Yes
@Valère ************************
i am aware she is not on an extension of stay

Wait...so you're saying if I do a border bounce before March 10, I can get an extra 90 days, even though my one-year expires March 10?
@Luke *******
Valère *************************
She says it's her Visa that expires and not an extension of stay.
Valère *************************
If you do a border bounce with a non-B (land or air) you'll get 90 days. I don't know if you can extend a non-B at imm. with 30 days.
