TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending a 3-month work visa in Thailand since their employment will last at least 5 months. Responses indicate that if the user has a Non Immigrant B visa with a work permit, an extension could be possible through their employer, who must provide the necessary documentation to the immigration office. For accompanying spouses or others on tourist visas, it's noted that a short extension may be possible, but they would eventually need to leave the country for a new visa if they wish to stay longer.

Okay, your husband needs to talk to his employer to see if he can get an extension at the immigration office. That's who will give him the documentation he needs to get an extension. Period end of story.

YOU on a 60 day tourist visa could get a 30 day extension and then that's it. You'd have to exit the country and get a new tourist visa to continue to stay.

NOW, with that being said. IF your husband CAN get an extension based on employment at the immigration office, you as a foreigner married to another foreigner who legally works here COULD go to a thai consulate and get a 90 day Non-O visa based on that reason and then get a matching extension from the immigration office.

BUT that's down the road a ways because you don't know IF your husband can get an extension or not. SO that'd be your first step.

sorry, I really appreciate your invaluable information. I have been posting enquiries regarding 2 types of visa, a 3 month work visa which my husband has, and a 60 day tourist visa which I am applying for. Just to clarify.

That is actually something you need to take up with your employer ;) and see if they can provide documentation that meets the extension requirements at the immigration office you will use.

Those are the people that gave you the documentation to get the initial 90 day Non-B visa

i guess you have the Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa which gives you 90 days on entry, than you go directly to the Ministry of Labor to pick up your Work Permit, the revenue office to get the tax number and 60 days after arrival you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay with documents from your employer.

Some people do find work and get the papers needed from their soon to be employer to apply for a Non Immigrant B visa. It sounds amazing but even in Thailand some companies understand the rules and follow them.
