Hello, I am planning on changing from a non b working visa to a tourist visa. I want to stay in county for 6 months after I change. Is this possible with a tourist visa and extensions? Is there anything I should be aware of? I'm a UK citizen.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Changing from a Non-B working visa to a tourist visa in Thailand is not possible while remaining in the country. You have to exit Thailand to apply for a tourist visa, which typically allows for a stay of 90 days. If you wish to stay for 6 months, you would need to apply for a multi-entry tourist visa in the UK and understand the regulations regarding visa extensions.

Be aware that you cannot obtain a tourist visa in-country, you will have to leave Thailand. You cannot switch from a Non-B to a tourist visa at immigration.
Thank you. There are no restrictions on where you go to? I mean, I can jump to Laos or vietnam and back, I don't need to go back to the UK for example.
you can go to any thai consulate in S/E Asia where you meet the requirements to get the tourist visa. There's no residency requirements to get a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate in any country nearby
