Hello everyone. I'm from the UK on a 6 month multiple entry visa. I would like to extend my stay at the end of my visa. My question is, can I extend more than once? I need to do a visa run soon but my visa expires one month latter so would need to go again. I would like to extend now for one month, then leave and re-enter at the end of my visa, get a fresh 60 days, then extend that if it's possible? Or can you only extend once? Thank you ๐Ÿ˜.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user from the UK is inquiring about extending their stay on a 6 month multiple entry visa and whether it's possible to extend more than once. The responses indicate that policies on extensions can vary by immigration office, with many allowing an extension for each entry. Users suggest potential strategies for maximizing stay duration through multiple entries and extensions.

okay, with a 6 month METV most people can get almost 9 months of stay out of it (in 60 day increments)

You get the visa as close to when you're coming here as you can

Enter get 60 days,

when that is running out

exit/re-enter the country to get another 60 days

when that is running out

exit/re-enter the country to get another 60 days

when the VISA is running out

exit/re-enter the country to get one final 60 day entry (taking you to almost 8 months)

get a 30 day extension on that entry taking you to 9 months

Ok thankyou. So you don't think I could extend on 8th Jan for 30 days. Then bounce out on 15th of Feb to get 60 days to extend by 30 after that?

In your case as bounce out and back in before the 8th of Jan, that will give you another 60 day entry

THEN just before the VISA expires on Feb 15, 2020 bounce out and back one more time & you will get another day entry and you can extend that for 30 days at the immigration office for 1900baht

You can do 2 border land crossing entries each calendar year.

Therefore you could do 2 + 2 extensions of 30 days. Then time to rethink your plans as likely you will not be able to get any Thai visa from any SE Asia Thai Consulate.

Ok. Wouldn't it be a new entry though? On the 15th Feb?

thanks. I don't plan to stay in Thailand after that. I'm just trying to get as long as possible with my multi entry visa. But would prefer to extend now and at the end. Or I need to leave 2 times in 30 days.

Ok thank you. So would you recommend just doing a boarder run now, so I have more chance of extending at the end? I plan to come back just before my visa expires for another 60 days, then was just hoping to extend it here.

and be aware you may not be allowed reentry as you already have been in Thailand 6+ months on a METV.

Back to back use of visas, exempt entries and extensions are being closely watched. The game is changing. Be careful.

Depends on immigration office. Many allow you apply extension each entry, but some has one extension per one visa policy. Better to check where you will apply the last extension..
