TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses whether it is possible to convert from a visa exempt status to a marriage visa directly in Thailand or if one must leave the country to obtain a tourist visa. Responses indicate that one can switch from visa exempt to a Non-O visa without exiting Thailand if certain requirements are met, such as having at least 14-21 days left on the stay. The option to apply for a 60-day extension for marriage purposes is also mentioned, along with varied experiences regarding procedures at different immigration offices, emphasizing that individual cases may differ.

why create problems as having all the cards in order.

15 months or 12 months the procedure is the same.

sooner or later they let you out and back in.

even if you have money in your bank like me.

that in the second year they let you out.

1 because at least you bring economy to the borders.

if you then rely on an agency then it's quite another thing.

@Ios ****************
no, the prosedure is not same but very different!

They must let you out where? Not exactly understand

HI .

in my case, having a marriage visa, it is now finished so the immigration of my city told me to leave once and then return, they will give me back my one year marriage visa.

to go out, go where you want to change, Burma, etc....

I go to laos because I feel good as a border.

It depends which immigration you go to.

in my case having a one year visa finished on 2nd march .

that immigration itself told me to go out and go to the thai embassy in laos or wherever you want,

that I had to leave, then they give me back my one-year visa.

would Pattaya IO allow me if my residence was in Bangkok?
Oleg ***********
@Dave ********
if do by yourself you need tm 30 and residence documents in Pattaya. With people who help, maybe not
Paul *******
No, in that case you would go out to get a marriage visa. On a visa exemption, you can get a 60 day "visit wife" extension. Bring the wife and proof of marriage along. After that, you'll probably need to get at least a 90 day non-O then get that extended for 12 months inside Thailand.
Oleg ***********
@Paul ******
this is bullshit!
Oleg ***********
@Paul ******
can make 3 month non o without leaving the country. No problem
Brandon ************
If you meet the requirements you can convert from visa exempt to non-O without leaving the country. You'll need at least 14-21 days left on your stay before you apply though.
