TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses whether it is possible to convert from a visa exempt status to a marriage visa directly in Thailand or if one must leave the country to obtain a tourist visa. Responses indicate that one can switch from visa exempt to a Non-O visa without exiting Thailand if certain requirements are met, such as having at least 14-21 days left on the stay. The option to apply for a 60-day extension for marriage purposes is also mentioned, along with varied experiences regarding procedures at different immigration offices, emphasizing that individual cases may differ.

No, in that case you would go out to get a marriage visa. On a visa exemption, you can get a 60 day "visit wife" extension. Bring the wife and proof of marriage along. After that, you'll probably need to get at least a 90 day non-O then get that extended for 12 months inside Thailand.
can make 3 month non o without leaving the country. No problem

If you meet the requirements you can convert from visa exempt to non-O without leaving the country. You'll need at least 14-21 days left on your stay before you apply though.
