TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether it is possible to change from an Education (ED) visa to a non-immigrant visa without leaving Thailand. Several comments confirm that it is indeed possible to switch non-immigrant visa types at the immigration office, depending on the individual's circumstances, such as whether they are on a 90-day initial stamp or an extension of stay. The original poster mentions their intention to transition from a tourist visa to an ED visa for studying Thai, with plans to later obtain a job teaching.

I am going from a tourist visa to an 3 months Ed visa studying Thai, and then hoping to get a job teaching so that is the reason for the question

The real question IS
are you on the initial 90 day stamp from the ED visa
OR
are you on an extension of stay stamp?
AND
The other question is what type of visa or extension are you wanting to switch to?

On what sort of visa do you hope to end up? It is possible to change the reason for your non-immigrant visa at the immigration office without leaving the country. For instance, I went from a Non-ED to a Non-O (retirement). Where do you hope to end up?

what kind of other non immigrant visa?
