TLDR : Answer Summary
It is possible to change from a Covid-19 60-day extension to a Non-O visa based on marriage in Thailand, provided that you initially entered the country on a valid Non-O visa. However, the change can depend on your entry stamp and the immigration rules applicable at the time. Typically, individuals must first obtain a 90-day Non-O visa based on marriage before applying for a one-year extension. Key requirements include proving sufficient funds or a legal income. It's advisable to provide your entry details for accurate information on your situation.

okay,
@To**
you got some good and some BAD info on here.

Whether you can or can't get a year extension based on marriage from a covid extension totally is controlled on what entry stamp you came in on BEFORE you got the covid stamp.

As a rule you go from a tourist entry or a visa exempt entry to FIRST a 90 day non-O visa based on marriage and then you apply for a year extension.

SO how about stating what entry stamp you came in to thailand on (and when) so people can give you accurate information.

You were stamped in for 90 days and your stamp says Non-O on it right? and you have been on amnesty, embassy letters, and covid extensions since the lock down last march right?

@Tony *******
as long as all the stamps in your passport "daisy chain" back to the original entry off that Non-O you totally CAN apply for a year extension based on marriage by meeting the proof of funds AND turning in the documentation.

As long as you ENTERED the country on a valid Non-O visa entry and were stamped in for 90 days AND have been on unbroken extensions since then (amnesty, covid, etc) you can apply for a year extension based on marriage by meeting the proof of funds (400K baht in a thai bank account for 2 months before you apply OR by having transferred in to the country into a thai bank account in your name only 40K baht a month each month for the previous 12 months OR by legally working here and making a minimum salary of 40K baht a month)

Is that a new visa like you normally get at an embassy or an extension ?

I just talked to Immigration Phuket this week about exactly that... they said it's possible from any Visa (TR, Visa excempt or VoA, Non-O) but not from "Non-O-A". Then you have to do the "Retirement-Extension" first (after Covid-Extension) or leave the country and come back with any other kind of Visa.

How about No Visa Just 30 Days on ARRIVAL

@Oliver ************
Yes, after an (any) extension... that's what they've told me.

You can transfer the new 90day tourist visa that can be extended up to 2 times into a one year marriage visa if you have 400k baht in a a Thai bank while in Thailand?

@Johnny ***********
The Special Tourist Visa (the one that stamps you in for 90 days and that you can get two 90 day extensions on after that) can't be changed to ANY other visa type inside the country. It's a show up, stay 9 months and go back to where ever you came from sort of visa

@Tod ********
Yes, that was how I understood it... but I became a bit confused after reading this post. Thanks for clarifying. ๐Ÿ˜Š

@Johnny ***********
Do you mean the "STV"? No, sorry, in my knowledge you can't convert it to anything, it's very "special" about this...

@Stephan **********
Ok Thanks. I wanted to make sure I was correct on that. Have a super day. ๐Ÿ˜Š
