What are the requirements for importing a cat from Thailand to the USA?
Anyone import a cat from Thailand to the USA? My wife is coming to the USA 1/29/25 and we are getting conflicting answers.
Answer summary
Importing a cat from Thailand to the USA is generally straightforward, but it requires following specific guidelines. It’s important to check the USDA/APHIS website for pet travel regulations, as no special requirements are necessary for cats entering the USA. However, the export process on the Thai side may involve obtaining an export permit, which requires a vaccination booklet from a veterinarian. Speaking with professional pet relocation services or your airline is also advisable, as they can provide specific assistance and identify any potential obstacles.

It's exactly as Alison Claas says above. Thank you (and your wife) for not abandoning a pet.

Cats to USA are so easy, check the USDA/APHIS website, you will see nothing is required. But on the Thai side, you will need to do the export permit and that requires the vaccination booklet from your wife’s regular vet.
