Hi everyone, I’m planning to apply for a DTV in Laos, but some people said that to get the visa, you need to have at least 500,000 baht in your bank account for at least 3 months. Is that right?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, to apply for a DTV visa in Laos, you need to have at least 500,000 Baht in your bank account for at least 3 months, although some suggest keeping it for 6 months for better assurance. The processing time for the DTV in Laos is typically around 2 weeks. Alternatives like applying in Vietnam could offer quicker processing. Additionally, getting help from visa services in Pattaya can simplify the application process.

I did it in Laos too. Easy and about 2 weeks in total. And yes, they check your bank accounts for 3 months, it’s true.

In Laos, be prepared to wait at least 2 weeks for processing time for DTV.

Maybe consider going to Vietnam, processing time much quicker, if a straight forward application, done in 5 working days.

my spouse just got his dependent visa from Vientiane within 2 days. Applied Sunday evening, paid Monday morning, approved tonight (Tuesday night). Perhaps it’s quicker because it’s for dependents?

and at Vientiane, when the Thai Embassy officer asks the applicant to open up their bank account using their cell phone to show PROOF of the 500,000 Thai baht in their bank account... what happens?
