What is the process and requirements for obtaining a Thai DTV visa from Vietnam?

Just got my approval in Hanoi (Singaporean passport).

Took 5 working days. Submitted on 13 Aug, approved on 20 Aug.

Here’s the list:

-Passport bio page

-Passport photo

Proof of Location:

-Flight booking

-Image of arrival stamp

-Boarding pass

- Accommodation booking (1 week)

Proof of Employment:

-My own cover letter (stating I work remotely, won’t do any business in Thailand, and will adhere to all the Thai rules and laws.

*This part is VERY important to emphasise.

-Company cover letter (same points as above and signed by my HR on the company letterhead)

-Employment contract

-Company Business Registration (ACRA)

Proof of Finance:

-3 months’ bank statements (highlighted my name, account number, month of statement, and final balance with the exchange rate from SGD to THB to make it easier for them to check.)

-1-year lease in Thailand (I added here since other files in the other sections were getting pass the 3MB)

In my cover letter, I had a list of all the documents I was going to include to make things clearer. And added short explanations in each PDF to highlight details and make it easy for the officers to understand.

Assume they’ve never seen your country’s documents before so having helpful information to guide them through what everything is will make it easier for them to find what they're looking for.

Also...

When filling in “departure date” from the country you’re applying in, I put about a week later, this might speed things up since they see that you're leaving by this date.

And you don’t actually need to buy the ticket out.

I entered Hanoi on a one-way ticket, no problem at Hanoi airport. Once approved, I bought a ticket out the very next day.

Hope this helps.

Good luck to everyone applying.

Any questions, drop them below.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Singaporean expat shares their successful experience of obtaining a Thai DTV visa in Hanoi, highlighting the application process, the documents required, and providing tips for efficient submission. The approval took five days, with emphasis on providing comprehensive documentation and guidance for the officers reviewing the application. How much is the application fee in Hanoi vs in SG? Why did you not apply in SG instead as you seem to have flew there just to apply DTV.

Anonymous participant 188 the sg consulate is super strict. I think it costs about $500sgd, takes about 3 weeks to a month and you have to go down for an interview. At the cost of losing my money, the wait time, having to go down for an interview and honestly just not wanting to be in sg for longer than I need to, a trip to Hanoi for a week of pho and bahn mi was more applying to me.

Anonymous participant May I check something with you? I am planning to apply my DTV in Hanoi too. May I know if you applied online or at the consulate? If you did the application online, do you have to be in Hanoi before applying online?

Congrats. Any reason why you didn't apply at the Thai Embassy in Singapore? I got mine approved there, but it took almost 3 weeks.

Anonymous participant 853 I’m worried too. Seen a few Singapore passport holders applied elsewhere. I am going to apply tomorrow in SG 😬

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

(we've seen - Mods at Thai Visa Advice) a recent report that the METV multiple entry tourist visa was granted to a foreigner visiting Vietnam. I will look for which Thai Embassy or Consulate issued it.
